Purdue students receive honors and scholarships
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Five Purdue University students received honors recently.
- Two students in the School of Chemical Engineering were awarded the Thomas E. Wallace
Memorial Scholarship. The recipients of the $750 scholarships are Cecilia M. Berger,
a junior from Newburgh
, and Bryan D. McVicker, a junior from Valparaiso
.
- Two students in the Purdue chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America
received presidential citations from the national chapter of PRSSA. Thomas Holt,
West Lafayette
, and Maureen Kaiser, Indianapolis
, are the first two members from the same PRSSA chapter to win the award simultaneously.
They were cited for their commitment and support to members of the society. Holt
is president of the local chapter and a senior in public relations. Kaiser is vice-president and also a senior in public relations. The Purdue chapter of PRSSA is the largest
in America with 88 members. The organization provides members networking opportunities
and skill-development activities.
- Julie M. Matthews from Indianapolis
received the Robert L. Carr Jr. Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded
annually to Indiana residents who are majoring in child health and have exhibited
academic excellence and the potential to succeed. Matthews is a junior in the School
of Consumer and Family Sciences.
