Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Award applications available

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Applications are available for the 2004 Charles O. McGaughey Leadership Awards, to be presented in the spring semester of 2004 to at least seven Purdue University students.

The late McGaughey, a 1939 Purdue graduate, developed these awards in 1991. The amount of each award is at least $2,000.

In accordance with McGaughey's wishes, an applicant must be an undergraduate student who will have completed at least two years by the end of the spring 2004 semester; have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average; have demonstrated an appreciation of the values of liberty and the democratic form of government; and shown an appreciation of the importance of respect for others and for the diversity of the United States. The student also must be a U.S. citizen.

Application packets are available at the Office of the Dean of Students, Schleman Hall, Room 250, or online. The application deadline is Monday, Feb. 16. For more information, call (765) 494-1232.
