Boiler Volunteer Network to collect gifts for local families

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - To make sure less fortunate families in Tippecanoe County receive gifts for the holidays, the Boiler Volunteer Network is sponsoring its fourth annual Season of Sharing.

The Season of Sharing begins Monday, Dec. 1. It features a holiday tree located in the BVN office in Stewart Center, Room G4. Each paper ornament on the tree has a gift written on it for a child. People who select an ornament are asked to bring their unwrapped gifts to the BVN office by Monday, Dec. 15. Wish lists from families also are available.

Kimberly Martin, assistant dean of students for community engagement and involvement, says it's important to remember the many families who are struggling to make ends meet.

"This event is being organized to provide students, faculty and staff the opportunity to come together to made a difference in the lives of underprivileged families in the Lafayette-West Lafayette area," Martin says. "For some families, these will be the only gifts they get."

The gifts will be turned in to local service agencies for distribution.
