Boilermaker backdrop available for holiday photos

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Anyone with Boilermaker spirit can have their holiday pictures taken surrounded by familiar Purdue University colors and emblems again this season.

The Visitor Information Center, 504 Northwestern Ave., has transformed part of its conference room into a photographic studio featuring Boilermaker props in front of a black background trimmed in snowflakes. The props include a tree trimmed in gold, a miniature Boilermaker Special and snowflakes hanging from above. The words "Purdue University" appear at the top of the backdrop.

"Purdue families love to send and receive photos of their loved ones and friends set in front of the Boilermaker backdrop," said Mike Piggott, Purdue's director of community relations. "What better way to remember one's years at Purdue than to send a holiday photo greeting decked with black and gold."

Anyone with a camera can make an appointment for a free, half-hour session. Family pets are welcome. A tripod will be available.

Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling (765) 494-4636. Appointment times are available between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays through Dec. 13. The studio will be closed on Sundays and Nov. 27-30 during the university's Thanksgiving break.
