Purdue campuses collaborate on new statewide admissions policy

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – As applications for admission to Purdue University's West Lafayette campus increase, the university has implemented a new collaborative admissions process to direct qualified applicants to other Purdue locations.

Qualified Indiana residents who are not offered admission to the West Lafayette campus are evaluated for admission to Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Purdue Calumet, Purdue North Central or one of the Statewide Technology locations. If offered admission, students next contact the campus or Statewide Technology location of their choice.

"We are excited about this new approach," said Douglas L. Christiansen, dean of admissions for the West Lafayette campus. "When we tested this procedure in the spring, the response was very positive. We were able to offer admission at other Purdue locations to more than 1,700 students. A number of families called us to express their appreciation."

Carol Isaacs, director of admissions at IPFW, said students should be encouraged to take advantage of this new opportunity.

"All of Purdue's programs offer excellent academic opportunities," Isaacs said. "We are confident that this process will serve students well and offer them access to a Purdue education."

For additional information, contact the West Lafayette campus admissions office at (765) 494-1776 or any of the other Purdue campuses or Statewide Technology locations.
