Purdue police, Harrison Hall looking for alleged voyeur

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –Purdue University Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to watch a female student shower on Monday (9/29) morning.

John Cox, captain of special services, said the victim was showering on the sixth floor Harrison Hall, where she lives, at approximately 7 a.m. While she was showering, a man walked into the shower area and allegedly tried to look at her through the curtain.

Believing the man was another female student, the victim reached for her towel and found that it had been moved to another stall. When she asked the other person about the towel, a man's voice answered.

The victim ran from the restroom and contacted the floor's resident assistant. When they returned to the shower area, the man was still there. He identified himself with a name and Social Security number and said he was visiting a friend who lived on the fifth floor of the residence hall. Police have been unable to match the name he provided with any student records.

After giving that information, the suspect left the shower area and walked down the building's southeast stairwell. Police and the Harrison Hall staff searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

Harrison Hall is co-ed by wing, with shared dining, laundry and commons areas.

Cox said the suspect is a white male in his late teens or early 20s. He is approximately 6 feet tall with a stocky build, reddish-brown hair and a clean-shaven face. He was wearing a blue bathrobe.

Anyone with any information should contact the Purdue Police at (765) 494-8221.
