Exquisite taste featured at
Indy International Wine Competition
The 12th annual Indy International Wine Competition, featuring entries from some of the world’s foremost wineries, takes place Thursday (7/24) through Saturday (7/26) at the Indiana State Fair Exposition Hall in Indianapolis.

The Indiana Wine Grape Council, based at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., oversees the competition. Richard Vine, professor of food science and honorary chair of the wine competition, said Purdue has received shipments of up to 650 wines a day, with approximately 3,500 entries in this year’s competition.
Participants in the contest will be judged by panels of five wine experts who award either a gold, silver or bronze medal or, in some cases, no medal at all. There will be a total of 70 judges for this year's event. Each judge will sample approximately 110 wines each day.
During the final day of competition, all of the winners and the "Best in Show" award will be announced. The event is free and open for public viewing from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday, and from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
