August crop report at the Indiana State Fair

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Current crop conditions and the implications for Indiana agriculture will be some of the topics covered in a Purdue University briefing for Lt. Gov. Joe Kernan at the Indiana State Fair on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

News media are invited to attend the briefing, which will start at 8:30 a.m. on the stage of the Pioneer Our Land Pavilion.

Victor Lechtenberg, dean of the School of Agriculture, will moderate the briefing for Kernan, who also serves as Indiana commissioner of agriculture. U.S. Department of Agriculture state statistician Greg Preston will present the USDA's August crop report. Purdue Extension agricultural economist Chris Hurt will provide analysis of the data.

Topics will include the Indiana crop forecast, weather impacts, farm income and the grain marketing outlook.
