July 22, 2003 Purdue brings August crop report to Indiana State FairWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A wet spring in the south and flooding in the north have set back Hoosier crops. Is it possible for crops to rebound with improving conditions? Indiana ag leaders will discuss their harvest predictions and the latest crop conditions on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Indiana State Fair. The public can view the discussion live via the Internet at 8:30 a.m. at https://www.ces.purdue.edu/cropreport.html. An audio-only version is available for users with low bandwidth Internet connections. The briefing also will be archived for viewing after the event. U.S. Department of Agriculture state statistician Greg Preston will present the USDA's August crop report to Lt. Gov. and Commissioner of Agriculture Joe Kernan. Purdue University Extension agricultural economist Chris Hurt will provide his harvest assessment, and Victor Lechtenberg, dean of Purdue's School of Agriculture, will moderate the briefing. Topics will include the Indiana crop forecast, weather impact, farm income and the grain marketing outlook. The latest version of Windows Media Player is necessary to view the online broadcast.
