Purdue University School of Pharmacy awards scholarships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue University School of Pharmacy has awarded scholarships to nine students.

Two doctoral students, Derek Fields and Lea C. Terwiske, received a Robert K. Chalmers scholarship worth $1,000. Terwiske, is from Jasper and Huntingburg, Ind. Fields is from Bedford, Ind.

Sarah Saft, a doctoral student from Saginaw, Mich., received a Thomas G. and Beverly Starnes Gerding Scholarship worth $1,500. Vicky Ling, a doctoral student from Alhambra, Calif., received a Laura M. Lohman Scholarship worth $1,000.

Robert Gabriel Ribeiro, a freshman from South Bend, Ind., received the Angelo and Jeannine Carnaghi Scholarship in industrial pharmacy worth $1,000.

Sarah Flinn, a doctoral student from Bloomfield, Ind., and Katherine Behr, a sophomore from South Bend, Ind., received the Robert C. Anderson Family Scholarship worth $1,000 and $1,500, respectively. Joshua McAfee, a sophomore, received the Raymond McCullough Scholarship worth $1,500. McAfee has resided in Marion, Ind., and Bloomington, Ind.

Erica Marie Hammond, a sophomore from Lockport, N.Y., received a $1,000 scholarship from the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Education Foundation. Dustin Spencer, a doctoral student from Upland, Ind., received the J. Richard and Patricia R. Zapapas Scholarship worth $1,500. Spencer also was chosen for the Schools of Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine Breast Cancer Research Program Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship.

The recipients were selected based upon academic performance, extracurricular activities, work experience and career goals.
