Purdue Airport extends fare rebate program

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A rebate program that encourages use of the Purdue University Airport for university travel has been extended until Dec. 31.

Airport director Betty Stansbury said the $50 rebate is available to Purdue staff and faculty who use the airport for university-sponsored travel. The rebate program, which was originally scheduled to end on June 30, began when AmericanConnection started service at Purdue Airport.

"The program has been very successful since its inception in November," Stansbury said. "When people are planning university travel, we hope this rebate will remind them to fly from Purdue whenever possible."

Each year the airport receives a $1 million federal subsidy if it boards at least 10,000 customers. Stansbury said the rebate not only encourages the university community to take advantage of local resources, but also will help the airport reach this year's customer number.

The Purdue Airport, located on the West Lafayette campus, was the first university-owned airport in the United States.
