President Jischke to discuss service-learning projects on next radio show

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue President Martin C. Jischke will provide an update on the university's service-learning initiatives during his live call-in radio show from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4.

Dan Skinner, WBAA manager, says listeners can talk directly with the president about various projects, such as Engineering Projects in Community Service, known as EPICS.

"Enhancing the classroom experience with service-learning is an integral part of Purdue's strategic plan," Skinner says. "Whether it's tutoring Spanish-speaking children in local elementary schools or designing toys for disabled children through the EPICS program, Purdue students are using their knowledge to make a difference in Greater Lafayette and Indiana. Listeners will be amazed at how many community projects have been established."

Listeners will have the opportunity to ask questions during the show about how Purdue students are serving others in the Greater Lafayette community and throughout the state. Local listeners can call (765) 496-1999. Listeners outside the local calling area can call toll-free at (866) 922-2101.

The station's AM signal reaches approximately two-thirds of Indiana and can be heard globally via the station's Web site. The site also provides toll-free dialing instructions for listeners outside the United States and Canada.
