Purdue Galleries' Made in Mexico to kick off Cinco de Mayo fiesta

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In celebration of the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo, Purdue Galleries will present a summer exhibit of artworks from Mexican artists in their permanent collection.

Hecho en México/Made in Mexico will run from May 1 through Aug. 10 in the Stewart Center Gallery. An opening reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday (5/1) in the Stewart Center Gallery. The reception will help kick off the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta 2003, a series of events celebrating Mexican life and culture in Greater Lafayette.

The exhibit features 22 pieces in a variety of media from the Mexican Modernists and contemporary Mexican artists.

The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Summer hours for the Stewart Center Gallery are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
