April 16, 2003 Waterford resident reclaims title of Girl in Black at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Krista Woodward of Waterford, Mich., who served in the solo twirling position of Girl in Black in 2002-03, has been selected to again serve in that position with the Purdue University "All American" Marching Band. The announcement was made April 12 by David Leppla, director of Purdue University Bands, following a day of competition that included field tryouts and personal interviews. Woodward, a hospitality and tourism management major, was part of a record field of 16 contestants from California, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. Woodward will make her first return appearance with the marching band at the Sept. 6 Purdue home game in Ross-Ade Stadium against Bowling Green.
