Purduettes to reunite for 60th anniversary

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Former Purduettes from around the country will return to Purdue University in April to celebrate the musical ensemble's 60th anniversary.

A reunion performance, "Purduettes Present 60 Years of Song," will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, in Loeb Playhouse. Featuring the talents of the current Purduettes and the Purduette Alumni Choir, under the direction of Ly Tartell, the show will present musical highlights of the past six decades. The Purduettes also will present a tribute to songs performed by the ensemble over the course of its 60-year history.

Past Purdue Musical Organizations assistant directors, including Jae Israel Kellogg and John Ranard, will join current PMO director Brian Breed in the musical celebration. Tickets, which are $5 for students and $7 for the public, may be purchased by calling the box office at (765) 494-3933.

Tartell says she expects at least 50 Purduettes from as far away as Hawaii, California, Texas and Washington, D.C., to participate in the performance.

"The most exciting aspect is the response from the ladies," Tartell says. "Just the process of reconnecting with these women and hearing the impact of this experience on their lives has been really rewarding."

This is the first time the Purduettes have participated in a formal reunion.
