Students to take alternate path near Cary, Owen residence halls

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – With construction under way on the new dining court to be located between Cary and Owen residence halls, a new fence has been put up along Beering Drive.

The fence is parallel to the existing fence that surrounds the Cary West unit that is being renovated. Due to the safety risk associated with the narrowed pathway between the fences, pedestrians will not be permitted on that portion of the street for the remainder of the semester. All pedestrians traveling north or south through the area between Cary and Owen should plan to pass through Cary's Spitzer Courtyard or use the sidewalk located immediately east of Owen Hall.

Tom Paczolt, Cary Quadrangle manager, said most students have adjusted their routes.

"We appreciate their cooperation," he said. "Student safety is important to us."
