Nominations sought for family, community support award

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's School of Consumer and Family Sciences is looking for programs and organizations across the state that have improved the well-being of Indiana families.

Nominations are being sought for the second annual Inspiring Families and Building Communities Award. The award was established to recognize local community efforts at improving the lives of families and children. The winning effort will receive $1,500.

Organizations, programs or collaborations that have the support of their local community may apply or be nominated. The nomination, which must be submitted by March 15, should include the signed endorsement of a community foundation officer.

"We sincerely believe that healthy communities support healthy families, and we want to reward both the winning organization and their community for their efforts," said Karen DeZarn, coordinator of the award committee.

In addition to the $1,500 award for the winning organization, an additional $500 will be given to the local community foundation that endorses the program. Finalists will receive $250 each.

Nomination materials are available on the Web. A link to award application materials is located in the middle of the page. Last year's finalists are encouraged to reapply.

For questions, contact DeZarn at (765) 494-8252 or (888) EXT-INFO.
