Purdue Student Government to discuss downloading music

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A Purdue Student Government sponsored panel discussion entitled "Downloading and Copyrighting: Know Your Rights" will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, March 3, in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall.

The discussion will focus on students' rights to download music using Purdue University computer resources. Panel members include students along with representatives from the recording industry, the Office of the Dean of Students, Information Technology at Purdue and the Purdue University Copyrighting Office.

Stephanie Warner, student body president, says she hopes students take the opportunity to become better informed on this issue.

"This is an important issue for students to be aware of and understand," said Stephanie Warner, student body president. "We look forward to fostering the dialogue."

The discussion is free and open to the public.
