Purdue sponsors Women in Leadership workshop

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The fourth annual Women in Leadership workshop will take place Saturday, March 8, at Purdue University.

The workshop, which is open to Purdue students, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Purdue Memorial Union and Stewart Center. Keynote speaker Maura Pierce, a history producer for C-SPAN and Purdue alumna, will share her thoughts on what it takes to be an effective leader.

Pierce has produced several series at the C-SPAN Networks, including "American Presidents," which won a 2000 Peabody Award. She covered the 2000 presidential campaign and served as C-SPAN's international producer following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. She currently covers the U.S. Supreme Court while still specializing in historical programming.

The event, which is sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students, also will feature a panel of successful women leaders. Registration, which is open to men and women students, is limited to 100 participants. Registration forms are available from the dean of students office in Schleman Hall, Room 250, or online. A $10 fee includes lunch, portfolio assistance and conference materials. The registration deadline is Feb. 28.
