Purdue Theatre replaces 'Proof' with 'Fuddy Mears'

WEST LAFAYETTE – Because of difficulties securing production rights, Purdue Theatre has announced a change in its final mainstage show for spring semester.

"Fuddy Mears" by David Lindsay-Abaire will replace David Auburn's "Proof" as the final production of the season. It will run in the Experimental Theatre April 17-27.

"While all members of the script selection committee are still interested in producing "Proof," its continued success has made that impossible this semester," said Russ Jones, chair of the theatre department. "We hope to be able to present that show in the near future, and are very excited to be bringing "Fuddy Mears" to the Experimental Theatre stage."

"Fuddy Mears" presents a harrowing and hilarious roller coaster ride through the day of an amnesiac trying to decipher her fractured life. A new comedy, it traces one woman's attempt to regain her memory while surrounded by an array of bizarre characters. Richard Sullivan Lee will direct the production.

All tickets previously sold for "Proof" will be honored for "Fuddy Mears." Tickets can be purchased at campus box offices by calling (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. Tickets for some weekend performances also are available at https://www.TicketMaster.com.
