January 16, 2003 Boiler Volunteer Network promotes organ donation awareness WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Boiler Volunteer Network at Purdue University will sponsor its first Treasure Hunt for Life to benefit the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization. The hunt, in which participants will dig for prizes, will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Cumberland Place Exhibition Center. Those who wish to participate in the hunt or register to become an organ donor can sign up at a kiosk underneath the mural in Stewart Center from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday (1/20) through Friday, Jan. 24, and in the Purdue Memorial Union Great Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 27 and Jan. 28. Donations to support the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization foundation, organ donation education programs and Indiana's organ donation registry will be accepted. Hunt participants will be selected in a raffle drawing. Meghna Patel, Boiler Volunteer Network graduate assistant, says the event provides an opportunity to educate the community about organ donation. "Life is a treasure, and no one treasures life more than someone waiting for a life saving organ transplant," Patel says. "There is a critical need for organ donors in Indiana and throughout the country. I hope people take advantage of the opportunity to give the gift of life and have a little fun along the way."
