Dec. 31, 2002 Agroterrorism and the media event On Friday Jan. 10, Purdue University Agricultural Communications invites you to learn more about our state's preparedness against agroterrorism. This luncheon presentation will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Purdue Extension office in Hamilton County, located at 2003 E. Pleasant St. in Noblesville. Over a box lunch, Leon Thacker, director of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Alan Hanks, state chemist and seed commissioner, and Bret Marsh, state veterinarian, will discuss the measures that would be taken in the event of suspected agroterrorism. News media representatives will have the opportunity to ask questions. Following the discussion, a satellite uplink will be available for viewing the "Bioterrorism and the Media" presentation, which is sponsored by the Hoosier State Press Association, the Indiana Broadcasters Association and the Indiana State Department of Health. Reporters may view the session from 1-3:30 p.m., also at the Purdue Extension office. The discussion is expected to cover suspected terrorist agents, such as anthrax and smallpox, and media communications during an attack.
