November 13, 2002 Alumnus to discuss Joint Fighter Program in fourth Boeing Lecture The officer in charge of the Joint Strike Force Fighter Program will be at Purdue on Monday (11/18) to discuss the next generation advanced weapon system program, as well as his thoughts on leadership and life. Maj. Gen. John L. Hudson, executive officer and program director, will deliver the fourth annual William E. Boeing Distinguished Lecture on "Life, the Universe and the Joint Strike Fighter Program." The lecture, sponsored by School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, begins at 4 p.m. in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. A reception will follow the lecture in Stewart Center's west foyer. Hudson was commissioned in 1973 after being honored as a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has a bachelor's degree in astronautical engineering and a 1974 Purdue master's degree in aeronautics and astronautics, national security and strategic studies, and management. As executive officer and program director of the Joint Strike Fighter Program, Hudson works for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition in Arlington, Va. This program will develop and produce the next generation strike warfare weapon system for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force; the Royal Navy and Air Force; and for other partner countries. Hudson's awards and commendations include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal.
