November 8, 2002 Students to learn stats during Purdue-Ohio State football gameIndianapolis Public Schools students involved in the Science Bound program, along with their parents and mentor teachers, will visit Purdue's West Lafayette campus on Saturday (11/9) to attend the Purdue-Ohio State game. But they won't just be cheering they will be keeping track of statistics for the football players. The students will be greeted by Purdue President Martin C. Jischke when they arrive on campus at 9 a.m. Jischke will then speak with the students in the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall, Room 224. Before heading to Ross-Ade Stadium for the game, the students will be "schooled" in the art of taking football statistics by Dustin Allen, a senior majoring in organizational leadership and supervision. Each student will keep statistics on a designated player and will be seated in rows 55-63, section 13, so they can monitor their individual players. Students can be identified by their black Science Bound T-shirts. Science Bound, a partnership between Purdue and Indianapolis Public Schools, is a program that gives underrepresented students an opportunity to earn a full scholarship to Purdue to study for a career in engineering, science, math, technology or math/science education.
