Programs address farm bill questions, issues

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Farmers with lingering questions about the 2002 Farm Bill are invited to view or attend special programs at counties across Indiana.

The programs are free and open to the public.

Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service and the Indiana office of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency (FSA) are sponsoring a farm bill training broadcast on Nov. 14. The broadcast will air from 7-10 p.m. at 24 county Extension offices via Purdue's Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System network.

Those planning to watch the broadcast at the Bartholomew, Clark, Jay and Orange county offices are asked to call ahead to reserve a seat.

Purdue agricultural economist Allan Gray and representatives of the FSA and AgriVisor will discuss farm bill and commodity issues, and answer questions at three meetings sponsored by Indiana Farm Bureau.

Meeting locations, days and times include:

• Logansport – 1-4:30 p.m. Nov. 22, Cass County Fairgrounds.

• Shelbyville – 1-4:30 p.m., Nov. 25, Town & Country Christian Church, 2133 S. Tucker Road.

• Loogootee – 1-4:30 p.m., Nov. 26, Martin County Fairgrounds.
