October 7, 2002 Canadian folk singer to perform free concert at Purdue WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A Canadian folk singer whose first independent release was on the Boston Globe's top 10 list will perform a free concert at Purdue University on Saturday, Oct. 12. Lucie Blue Tremblay will take the stage at 8 p.m. in the Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. Tremblay, who has performed with many prominent artists, including James Taylor, Pete Seeger and Valdy, is currently promoting her fifth CD, "Because of You." Tremblay also is promoting a non-profit, multimedia CD entitled "Cells of Love." Tremblay says the CD speaks about the compassion people found for one another after Sept. 11, 2001. "'Cells of Love' is a small labor of love in itself," Tremblay says. "Though many of you were not in New York City at the time, I thought I would share with you my memories, because along with the tremendous sadness, confusion and anger, there was compassion, tears and, yes, music." The concert is sponsored by the Women's Resource Office, the Purdue Student Union Board, the Diversity Resource Office and the Women's Studies Program.
