Motorcyclist in satisfactory condition following semi collision

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A motorcycle rider was in satisfactory condition at noon today (9/17) following a collision with a tractor-trailer Monday at the intersection of State Street and Gates Road.

Ryan D. Hull, 19, of 3710 Moss Hill Dr., West Lafayette, a Purdue University sophomore in the Krannert School of Management, was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital by the Tippecanoe County Emergency Ambulance Service after being freed from under the truck.

A spokesperson at the hospital said he is in satisfactory condition.

The accident took place at about 3:23 p.m. when Hull's 1998 Honda motorcycle passed a truck and two cars on the right side while heading east on State Street, said Ron Fosnaugh, Purdue police captain of special services. The motorcycle then struck a 1996 Mack semi, driven by Texas K. Boles, 31, Lafayette, as it turned right onto Gates Road. Hull and the motorcycle were pinned under the semi and were dragged approximately 16 feet before the truck stopped, police said.

Witnesses told police Hull was not wearing a helmet.
