Events Weeks: 9/16/02 - 9/30/02 For additional information, call (765) 494-8396 September 18: Purdue To Visit Knox County Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke and other university representatives will visit Knox County as part of a series of visits to Indiana communities. At 9 a.m. Jischke will tour the Southwest Purdue Agricultural Center and participate in the Pumpkin Field Day with Knox County first-graders. The center is located 3 miles north of Vincennes on U.S. 41 and he also will be available to talk with the news media. He will visit the Vigo Elementary School at 10:30 a.m. and see the Reading Recovery program there and the Purdue Extension program "Professor Popcorn." At 4 p.m. he will attend a reception in the McCormick Science Building with Vincennes University students and staff associated with Purdue's transfer program in agriculture and technology. September 19: Wild Game Program The Area I ag educators and Southeast Purdue Agricultural Center will host a wild game program from 6-9 p.m. at SEPAC, located on County Road 350 N., off of U.S. 50, just east of North Vernon near Butlerville, Ind. This workshop will focus on the cleaning and preparation of small game, mainly squirrel, rabbit and dove. This is a free event and open to the public. September 30: Twilight Meeting: Nutrient Management Planning Livestock producers interested in how to manage pastures can come to the Purdue University Feldun Research Farm, located 3.5 miles west of Bedford, Ind., on U.S. 458. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will cover the topics of pasture nutrient management, United States Department of Agriculture cost share programs and getting beef cattle through the winter after a summer drought.
