Hospitality and tourism management presents fall lecture series

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management is presenting a campus lecture series for industry leaders to share their ideas and experiences with students and the general public.

The eight lectures, sponsored by Darden Restaurants Foundation, all begin at 10:30 a.m. in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall or in Room 210 of Matthews Hall.

Raphael Kavanaugh, professor and head of the hospitality and tourism management department, said: "We are committed to providing our students with all the tools they need to make meaningful decisions about their future. Through the Darden Lecture Series, these industry leaders will also engage the local hospitality and tourism industries as well as the community."

Scheduled dates, speakers and locations are:

• Sept. 12 – Lawrence F. Levy, chairman and CEO, Levy Restaurants and The Levy Organization, "Passion for Restaurants," Fowler Hall.

• Sept. 24 (in conjunction with Career Day) – Edna Morris, president of Red Lobster, "The Best is Yet to Come," Fowler Hall.

• Oct. 17 – John Russell, CEO, Hospitality Artists LLC, "Survivor V: How Not To Get Voted off the Island of Hospitality Success," Matthews Hall, Room 210.

• Oct. 24 – Roger Aufieri, executive vice president of operations, White Lodging Services, Fowler Hall.

• Oct. 31 – John Farquharson, president, International Food Safety Council and executive emeritus of ARAMARK Corp., Matthews Hall, Room 210.

• Nov. 7 – Joe Micatratto, chairman, president, CEO of BUCA Inc., Fowler Hall.

• Nov. 14 – Stephen Hicks, president of the hospitality division, Shell Vacations LLC, Fowler Hall.
