'The Events of 9/11' to be presented at Fowler Hall

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue Student Union Board and the Purdue Division of Theatre have teamed up to provide an evening of Reader's Theatre in remembrance of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"The Events of 9/11" production, which will include songs, poetry and a dance, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (9/10) in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. Anne Fliotsos, the assistant professor of theatre who created the production, will serve as director.

"As a theatre director and playwright, I felt somehow compelled to put some of my own reflections on the stage," Fliotsos says. "This is theatre of testimony, representing not only my own voice, but those around me: Purdue students, friends in New York, people posting on the Web and others."

Seven students will perform in the production. Students also designed the sound and simultaneous slide presentation.

The one hour performance is free and open to the public. Donation will be accepted, with proceeds going to the World Trade Center School Relief Fund. The doors will open at 7 p.m. with seating on a first-come basis.

Following the performance, counselors from Purdue's Counseling and Psychological Services will be available for talk-back sessions in Stewart Center, rooms 213 B, C and D.
