Purdue president's radio show features student leaders

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke will resume his live call-in radio show from 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, on WBAA's "AM920 Magazine."

For his first show of the fall semester, Jischke will discuss issues pertinent to students with Greg Canfield, Purdue Student Government president; Deepti Fahi, president of the Society of Business Engineers; and Tangra Riggle, a senior in communications who recently was named Miss Indiana.

Future show dates and topics include:

• Oct. 2 – An update on private fund raising and the Purdue capital campaign.

• Nov. 6 – A report on the status of building projects.

• Dec. 4 – A discussion of Purdue's state funding strategy.

• Jan. 8 – Boilermaker athletics: past, present and future.

• Feb. 5 – A discussion of international programs and issues of security in the post-Sept. 11 era.

• March 5 – A state funding update.

• April 2 – An overview of student services and student discipline.

• May 7 – A Purdue campaign update.

Listeners will have the opportunity to ask questions during each show. Local listeners can call (765) 496-1999. Listeners outside the local calling area can call toll-free at (866) 922-2101.

WBAA manager Dan Skinner said he hopes for strong community response and involvement during the show.

"Listeners are encouraged to call in with questions and concerns," he said. "This is their opportunity to talk with the president directly about any area of concern regarding Purdue."

The station's AM signal reaches approximately two-thirds of Indiana and may be heard globally via the station's Web site. The site also provides toll-free dialing instructions for listeners outside the United States and Canada.
