August 27: Davis-Purdue Ag Center Field Day

The program will start at 8:30 a.m. at the Davis-Purdue Agricultural Center, five miles north of Farmland, Ind., on State Road 1. Topics include corn and soybean herbicide demonstration plots, fall applied herbicide products, soybean aphids and other insects, global positioning tools on the farm, and pesticide recordkeeping for private applicators. September 12: Indiana Agricultural Forum

The Indiana Agricultural Forum will be at the Westin Hotel, 505 Capitol Ave., Indianapolis. Dave Bossman, president of the American Feed Industry Association, will discuss consumer pressures on animal agriculture. Reservations must be made in advance, and there is a fee of $50 for non-members and a $40 fee for members that have made an annual $100 donation. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at noon with the program immediately following. September 14: Hancock County Farm Festival

Spend the day on the farm with the family at the Hancock Farm Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The six sites on this year's tour are the Apple Family Farm, Brandywine Stables, Kingen's Round Barn, Phares Farm, Sunnyside Greenhouses and Tuttle Orchards. Features and activities include organic milk and cheese production, thoroughbred horse breeding, historical farms, modern grain farms, a commercial greenhouse operation and a commercial fruit farm operation.
