Dribble & Dream Tour comes to Greater Lafayette

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The World Basketball Championship Dribble & Dream Tour, "A Relay Through Indiana Basketball History," will be making its way through 25 Indiana cities and towns and will be in Greater Lafayette Monday (8/12).

The Dribble & Dream Tour will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Slayter Center on the Purdue University campus. Kelly Komara, one of Purdue's outstanding women's basketball players from last season, will be the lead dribbler as the event kicks off. She will be joined by fellow Boilermaker Andrew Ford of the men's team and by McCutcheon high school three-sport star Clayton Richard. Other participants will be from area high schools, Purdue University and the Lyn Treece Boys and Girls Club. The tour will wind through campus, down to Wabash Landing and over to downtown Lafayette before concluding at Riehle Plaza at 11 a.m.

At that time, Gene Keady and representatives from the World Basketball Championships will speak about the upcoming championships taking place in Indianapolis. A Dixieland band will perform, WAZY Radio will provide additional music and live reports and local members of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame will be introduced.

The 14th World Basketball Championship for men takes place over 11 days in August and September in Conseco Fieldhouse and the RCA Dome. Sixteen of the world's best national basketball teams will play in the 62-game tournament, and there will be a variety of events to showcase the participating countries.

Tickets for the World Basketball Championships can be purchased at all Lafayette Bank & Trust locations as well as at the Hanna Center, 1201 N. 18th St., Lafayette. Ticket prices are: 1st Round, $10-$58; 2nd Round, $12-$66; and Championship Round, $24-$110. A portion of each ticket sale will benefit the Hanna Center.
