Appointments and promotions

– Leah H. Jamieson, the Ransburg Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been named interim head of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She will replace outgoing head Kent Fuchs, who is leaving Purdue to become dean of engineering at Cornell University.

– Cheryl L. Altinkemer has recently been appointed senior director of development for Purdue's Office of Advancement. One of three new positions created to manage advancement professional staff schools and units, Altinkemer will be providing leadership to increase the level of fund raising at Purdue. Altinkemer previously served as the director of development and alumni relations for the School of Consumer and Family Sciences. She currently serves as president of the National Women's Philanthropy Institute and is the national chairperson and co-founder of the Advancement for Family and Consumer Sciences. She received her undergraduate degree in textiles and clothing from Indiana State University and her master's degree from Purdue in agricultural extension public relations.

– Susan Prieto-Welch has accepted the job of director of counseling and psychological services at the Purdue Student Health Center. She has been acting director since January 2001. She joined the Purdue counseling staff in July 1993 as assistant director and coordinator of clinical services. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Kalamazoo College. She earned master's and doctoral degrees in counseling psychology from the University of Notre Dame.
