Society of Women Engineers distributes thousands in scholarships
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – More than 115 merit-based scholarships and awards worth approximately $48,000 have been awarded to women studying engineering at Purdue University.
The awards, ranging from $250-$1,000 are sponsored by more than 45 different corporations, organizations and alumni.
Beth Holloway, Women in Engineering Program director, says she is pleased so many future female engineers can receive educational support.
"Purdue's Schools of Engineering are proud of the fact that they have granted more undergraduate degrees to women than any other engineering school in the nation," Holloway says.
Purdue has 1,450 women enrolled in engineering programs. This constitutes 18 percent of all the university's engineering students.
