Purdue summer band open to campus and community musicians

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University Band's summer band program will open its doors this summer to all musicians – students, faculty and staff as well as community musicians.

William Kisinger, as associate professor in the Bands Department, will director the group when rehearsal begin on Tuesday, June 11. Kisinger says the four-week program allows musicians who can't make a commitment to a year-round group the chance to perform.

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 5:15 p.m. in Elliott Hall of Music Room 15. The culminating event is an outdoor concert at Slayter Center at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9. Admission to the concert is free.

No auditions are required to participate in the band program. Students can enroll in Band 330 or Band 340 to receive course credit for their involvement, but student status is not necessary for participation. Non-students should contact Kisinger to sign up for the band at (765) 494-3955, wdkisinger@purdue.edu.
