May 2: Day on the farm

The Purdue Cooperative Extension Service in Knox County is hosting a Day on the Farm for third-graders in Knox County schools. The event will be at the Southeast Purdue Ag Center, in Butlerville, Ind. Admission is free. Several displays will be set up for students to walk through, such as sheep, pork and beef production sites; soil and water conservation; grain milling; greenhouse; farm machinery; and chemical safety. The program exists to give the students a better understanding of farms and agriculture. May 6-7: Strategic customer relationship management seminar

Purdue University’s Center for Food and Agribusiness is offering its sixth annual Strategic Customer Relationship Management Seminar in the Krannert Center on Purdue's West Lafayette, Ind., campus. The seminar is designed for manufacturing managers, dealers and others with direct responsibility for managing relationships with customers. Many topics will be covered, including how to make uniqueness a fundamental part of customer relationship activities, improving market segment approaches, building customer commitment and measuring relationship quality. There is no registration deadline, and the cost for the seminar is $895 per participant. May 14: Herd health issues seminar

The Purdue Cooperative Extension Service in Dubois County is hosting a beef herd health issues seminar. The program will be at The Southern Indiana Purdue Ag Center near Cuzco, Ind. The seminar is sponsored by Fort Dodge Pharmaceuticals, and there will be several pharmaceutical experts on hand to answer any questions or concerns about cattle health. The seminar will run from 6-9 p.m., and there is no registration fee. May 16: Indiana junior master gardener training workshop

The Purdue Cooperative Extension Service is hosting this hands-on training workshop designed to introduce and immerse youth in the Junior Master Gardener curriculum. The training will be at the Southeast Purdue Ag Center in Butlerville, Ind., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If students have their own copy of the JMG student handbook and/or leader’s manual, they should bring them to the session. There will be a limited quantity of handbooks and manuals available to purchase. There is a $40 registration fee, which includes lunch, refreshments and workshop materials. Please register by May 9, and make checks payable to Purdue University.
