Purdue Musical Organizations do a double take

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The music of Michael Jackson will take center stage when Purdue Musical Organizations present their third annual DoubleTake concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, in Loeb Playhouse.

The concert will feature two medleys composed of television theme songs and the music of Michael Jackson. DoubleTake combines the voices of the vocal jazz ensemble PMO Express and University Choir, a mixed coed group. Both groups also will perform music from their standard repertoire.

Sam Leahy, the show's assistant producer, says DoubleTake is different from other PMO shows because the student members of both groups write and arrange the music, create choreography, run rehearsals and costume the show.

"I like DoubleTake because I enjoy the creative process, all the way from music to costumes," Leahy says. "It's a great time for all of us students to develop a show to share with our family and peers."

Previous shows have featured the music of Billy Joel, the Beatles, Motown and movie theme songs.

Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for students. They can be purchased at the Elliott Hall of Music or the Loeb Playhouse Box Offices. To order, call (765) 494-3933 or (800) 496-SHOW.

CONTACTS: Ashleigh Duchene, student producer, (765) 743-8140; or Sam Leahy, (765) 464-2733.
