April 5, 2002 New Directional Players perform in 'Dame Lorraine' WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The New Directional Players, an acting troupe sponsored by the Black Cultural Center at Purdue University, will perform "Dame Lorraine" at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. The play, written by Steven Carter, focuses on a family that is waiting for their oldest son to return home from prison, where he had been incarcerated for murdering a girl 27 years prior. The reunion forces the family to relive past tragedies and deal with dark, haunting secrets. Director Carl Barnett says this unique drama should captivate the audience. "This play has many unforeseeable and unexpected events that are sure to keep an audience entertained," Barnett says. "The New Directional Players wanted to do something different from your typical slice of life. We wanted to challenge ourselves by doing a tragic drama that is moving as well as entertaining." Admission is $5 for students and $7 for the general public. Tickets will be sold at the door.
