Purdue spruces up for spring during University Day

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Volunteers from the Purdue University community will beautify the campus on University Day, Wednesday, April 10.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. volunteers will plant flowers, pick up litter and rake mulch around plants and trees. Areas to benefit from the beautification efforts include the Memorial Mall, Windsor Halls, Founders Park, Academy Park, the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall, Hovde Hall, the Purdue Armory, Grissom Hall and Hansen Hall.

Michael Radovanovic, event organizer, says he expects approximately 300 volunteers to participate in the Purdue Student Government sponsored event.

"These visual improvements are particularly important since the following weekend is Mother's Weekend when many people visit Purdue's campus," Radovanovic says.

No registration is required to participate; volunteers simply need to show up at one of the locations. Tools will be provided, and volunteers also will receive T-shirts and bottled water.
