American Town Forum to focus on debate over evolution

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The debate over creation vs. evolution and what should be taught in schools will be the focus of discussion when WBAA airs its seventh installment of "An American Town Forum" at 7 p.m. Tuesday (3/5).

The show will be broadcast live from the Trails banquet facility, 325 Burnett Road, West Lafayette. David Bunte, WBAA program director, says this installment of "An American Town Forum" will illuminate moral and educational issues that many people view as important.

"I am hoping that the discussion can transcend the debate as to whether or not evolution or creation is true and look more at whether it is appropriate to keep such a widely held view as creation out of the public classroom," Bunte says.

Guests include Purdue biology Professor Mark Levinthal, Lafayette attorney Roger Bennett and Charles McCoy, an ordained minister, farmer and former religion professor.

Listeners can phone in comments and questions at (765) 496-1999 or toll-free at (866) 922-2101 if they live outside the local calling area. The program can be heard at 101.3 FM and on AM 920. WBAA also can be heard on the Web.
