February 6, 2002 Rube Goldberg Satellite CoordinatesThere has been a great deal of interest in this year's Rube Goldberg Machine Contest at Purdue University. The contest, set for Saturday (2/9), will showcase student designs of machines to complete the task of securing, raising and waving an American flag. A highlights package from the contest will be available Saturday (2/9) via satellite between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. EST. We also will distribute a news release on Saturday afternoon. Satellite Information: SBS-6/08 (74' W) Nine teams are registered to compete in the event to determine which machine will defend Purdue's title in the National Rube Goldberg Machine Contest April 6 in West Lafayette, Ind. If you are unfamiliar with the contest, student teams design elaborate, whimsical machines to complete common tasks in no fewer than 20 steps.
