Public welcome at pharmacy executive series

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Dean's Pharmacy Executive Forum lecture series begins Friday, Jan. 25, with a presentation by Ronald W. Dollens, president and chief executive officer of Guidant Corp. in Indianapolis.

Dollens is the first of six pharmaceutical industry and education leaders who will be on the West Lafayette campus as series participants. Dollens' lecture, "It's not about Pharmacy; It's about Pharmaceuticals, Clinical Trials, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Technology, Leadership and Business Strategy! Or is it about Pharmacy?" will be at 10:30 a.m. in the Heine Pharmacy Building, Room 164.

Dates, speakers and titles of subsequent talks, all at 10:30 a.m. in the Heine Pharmacy Building, Room 164, are:

Feb. 8 – Marilyn K. Speedie, dean of the College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota, "Building Bridges to the Future: A Career in Academia."

Feb. 22 – Mark Foglesong, executive director of animal health and cephalosporin networks, Eli Lilly and Co., Indianapolis, "Change Management and Jumbo Shrimp: A Case Study for Implementing Change in the Manufacturing Organization at Eli Lilly and Company."

March 8 – Mary Anne Koda-Kimble, dean of the School of Pharmacy, University of California-San Francisco, "Off the Trail."

March 22 – Dr. Charles E. Sanders Jr., medical director, DuPont Pharmaceuticals Co., Wilmington , Del., "Skills for a Pharmaceutical Industry Career: Learn Them Now or Pay Later."

April 12 – Henri R. Manasse Jr., executive vice president and chief executive officer, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Bethesda, Md., "Paying Your 'Dues.'"

The Dean's Pharmacy Executive Forum lecture series is part of an academic elective course directed by Dean Charles O. Rutledge for pharmacy students in their second or third year of professional study. The presentations are free and open to the public as seating permits.
