Purdue President Mung Chiang joined Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, senior staffers from the Department of Commerce, and the leadership and members of the Semiconductor Industry Association on a trip to Costa Rica to advance semiconductor partnerships to help bolster the global semiconductor ecosystem and build supply chain sustainability and resilience.
Kathryn Cramer Brownell has been selected to receive the 2023 Lu Ann Aday Award, which annually recognizes a Purdue University faculty member who has made a major impact in the humanities and social sciences. Brownell will receive the award April 22, when Karen Plaut, executive vice president for research, will host the Excellence in Research Awards and Lectures event, from 2-5 p.m. in the North Ballroom of the Purdue Memorial Union. Brownell also will present a lecture titled “Democracy and Technological Disruption: How the Past Is Prologue.”

Understanding the physics of the ice layer and its underlying liquid water oceans is key to investigating whether the moon might harbor life.

The invitation is for the annual CERIAS symposium April 2-3, at which academic cyber researchers and industry professionals will collaborate to define, prioritize and work on security threats and barriers to progress in the cyber realm.
Purdue improved to 31-4 overall with a 106-67 win over No. 8 seed Utah State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 31 wins are a school record, surpassing the 30 wins recorded by the 2017-18 team. Purdue will face fifth-seeded Gonzaga on Friday (March 29) in the Midwest Region semifinals in Detroit.
