Responsible health care consumerism leads to big rewards for 2016 benefits plans

Purdue faculty and staff will have no increases in medical plan premiums in 2016, and Human Resources once again credits better health care consumerism as the reason. The Purdue Board of Trustees today (Oct. 9) approved the 2016 premiums and medical plans. In addition to keeping premiums unchanged, Purdue will offer enhanced versions of the same three medical plan options with Anthem next year without changes in deductible or coinsurance.

Board approves addition of three-day winter recess for faculty, staff

At the request of President Mitch Daniels, the Board of Trustees today (Oct. 9) approved for 2015 the addition of a three-day winter recess on Dec. 28-30 for faculty and staff on all Purdue campuses. The three days are in addition to approved University holidays that are already scheduled on Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.

Trustees confirm 7 named, distinguished professors, approve resolution of appreciation

The Board of Trustees today (Oct. 9) ratified seven named and distinguished professors and approved a resolution of appreciation for seven donors who have given $1 million or more to Purdue.

Board extends Daniels' contract, increases at-risk compensation to 50 percent

The Purdue University Board of Trustees today (Oct. 9) voted to extend the contract of President Mitch Daniels for two years through June 30, 2020, and increased the at-risk portion of the president's pay to 50 percent while holding flat his guaranteed salary. With that adjustment, trustees said, Daniels will remain among the lowest paid of the 14 Big Ten presidents.

Purdue trustees approve academic structuring for Purdue University Northwest

A plan to unify academic organizations of the emerging Purdue University Northwest into six colleges was approved today (Oct. 9) by the Board of Trustees.

Trustees change Purdue Polytechnic department name to reflect enhancements

The Board of Trustees today (Oct. 9) approved changing the name of a department in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, approved the faculty promotion and tenure policy for the West Lafayette campus, and revised criteria for nominating and approving honorary doctorate candidates.

Trustees approve IPFW, West Lafayette campus projects

Purdue's Board of Trustees today (Oct. 9) approved a renovation project at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in addition to projects on the West Lafayette campus.

Agricultural and life sciences buildings to be named for Creighton brothers, Land O' Lakes

Today (Oct. 9) the Board of Trustees approved naming the Hall of Animal Sciences and the Center for Experiential Learning -- facilities scheduled to open in 2017 -- for the Creighton Brothers founders and Land O' Lakes, respectively, in recognition of their gifts.
