How do I qualify for the R. B. Stewart Society?
Membership in the R. B. Stewart Society is extended on a confidential basis to Purdue alumni and friends who have made a commitment to the future of Purdue through their estate plans or with life income gift arrangements, regardless of the amount. A written confirmation of your gift is needed for membership and no future gifts are expected or required.

Can my giving plans remain anonymous?
Purdue is dedicated to preserving the confidentiality of our donors’ giving plans. Your name will only be used with your permission, and you can be a member of the R. B. Stewart Society while remaining completely anonymous.

What is the connection between the R. B. Stewart Society and other Purdue University recognition societies?
The R. B. Stewart Society recognizes the method of giving, not the size of the gift. Many gifts qualify for recognition in the R. B. Stewart Society in addition to other clubs.

What are the benefits of membership in the R. B. Stewart Society?
Members receive an attractive certificate, an annual newsletter, and invitations to special events held throughout the year.

What if I change my plans?
Purdue realizes that any revocable gift plan could change in the future. The form is a letter of intent and not a binding document. The R. B. Stewart Society provides recognition for your current intention to support the mission of Purdue University.

Do I need to share my estate planning documents with Purdue University?
It is not necessary to do so, but it can be helpful. This will ensure your gift is directed toward your desired area. You may wish to share a copy of only the portion of your estate planning document that relates to Purdue or you may describe your gift on the state of intent form.

How are deferred gifts used by Purdue?
The University follows the donor’s gift intentions when the funds are made available. Donors can designate these gifts to any area on campus or they can be left as unrestricted, allowing the President or Dean of a specific school or college to apply the money to the greatest need. The University is able to better plan for the future when made aware of these types of gifts.

University Development staff members are available to consult with you and your professional advisor.
