Emilee was unveiled at the Purdue North Central campus on July 26, 2004, to celebrate the Provence at PNC Arts Festival. Emilee's image graced the North Central campus' Women for Purdue program.
"To me, the sculpture, Emilee, is about strength and power, seeing the possibilities that the universe offers, and making them happen."
— Dessa Kirk, Sculptor and North Central campus Women for Purdue program participant

Women for Purdue... Advancing the Spirit of Giving
In 2003, The Women for Purdue ... Advancing the Spirit of Philanthropy began as a subcommittee of The Campaign for Purdue Steering Committee. To cultivate the national trend of women's philanthropy, committee members developed a program to encourage and celebrate women's leadership in giving to Purdue.
Cheryl Altinkemer, Purdue associate vice president for advancement and past chair of the national Women's Philanthropy Institute Board of Directors, reports a half-dozen small-group educational seminars have been held around the country to discuss how women can make Purdue — and the world — a better place. Events have taken place in Zionsville, Indiana, Naples, Florida, New York City, Chicago, and Hinsdale, Illinois, as well as on campus.
