To help create a better understanding of the University among its constituencies by participating in fundraising and supportive public relations activities.

To create greater student awareness and participation in fundraising and supportive public relations activities coordinated through the offices reporting to the vice president for development by assisting with their planning, promotion, and implementation.

To provide a student perspective by making recommendations to the vice president of development for increased direct involvement of students in fundraising and supportive public relations activities.

Goal

  • To provide student support to the Purdue University Development Office to enhance donor relations.

Objectives

  • Incorporate at least 20 student-donor interfaces per semester.
  • Recruit 30 top Purdue students to participate on the Foundation Student Board.
  • Educate peers on the impact of private giving to Purdue.
  • Network with other student leaders.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Report to the president of the Purdue Foundation Student Board.
  • Host Purdue alumni at events, on and off campus.
  • Serve as on-campus escorts for Purdue donors.
  • Recruit other students who show excellent leadership.
  • Participate in the process for each Purdue Foundation Student Board meeting or activity.
  • Attend annual retreat for leadership training.
  • Participate in special philanthropic programs.
  • Assist with event staff at event sites.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to represent the University in a professional manner.
  • Extensive knowledge about Purdue and the ability to offer a unique perspective on University life to alumni.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and excellent public relations skills.
  • Ability to communicate with alumni of all ages.
  • Willingness to spend adequate time with the PFSB.
  • Confidence to converse with strangers.
  • Maturity to handle stressful situations.

Training and Commitment

  • Attend all Purdue Foundation Student Board committee meetings.
  • Attend at least five Purdue-related special events on campus and throughout the region per semester.
  • Participate in etiquette and training seminars for members.
  • Year-long commitment to PFSB (May-May).
  • Required on-time attendance at all events.
  • Appropriate dress for all events.
