Favorite PFSB moment: I can honestly say that I do not have one favorite moment.
All of the President's Council events have been wonderful, and I have met some
really awesome alumni through all of them. Such events are probably my favorite
moments.
Why do you like being a part of PFSB? I enjoy being a part of PFSB because
not only am I presented opportunities to network and interact with outstanding
alumni, but PFSB also allows me to interact with my peers at another level.

Purdue President Martin C. Jischke or Murray Blackwelder,
senior vice president for advancement, would stop
and talk to me during a hosting event. It made me
feel like they actually know what we are doing and
appreciate our efforts.
Why do you like being a part
of PFSB? I enjoy interacting
with alumni who come back to campus and support students
today. It makes me feel like I am doing something

Favorite PFSB moment: I was working PFSB during a
football game last year, driving the alumni on the
golf carts from President's Council. I was driving
the golf cart at the end of the game and it was such
a hot day . . . my day was great, but I was ready
to be done! Just when I was getting ready to drive
the cart back to its parking place, this tall, burly
gentleman ran up to the cart and asked if he could
have a ride to his car. I did not really look at
him, but just said, "Sure, hop on." As
I was driving up the hill, several people the golf
cart to talk to my passenger — it was Leroy
Keyes! He was such a friendly guy and completely
appreciated the ride. He asked about our organization
and took an immediate interest. Despite working all
day in the heat, I realized the connections and satisfaction
that come from working with PFSB!
Why do you like being a part
of PFSB? I love Purdue
and have loved it since I was growing up. Therefore,
I enjoy being around the alumni and talking to them
about all of the great aspects of Purdue. I like
to hear how the University has changed over time,
but how strong traditions remain. I also enjoy the
philanthropy work that we have an opportunity to
do and am looking forward to a year of even more
philanthropic activities!

and going to concerts.
Fun Facts: I spent part of this past summer studying
organic agriculture in England and the Netherlands.
Favorite philanthropic aspect
of PFSB: The philanthropic
aspect of PFSB I enjoy the most is the Senior Challenge.
It is one of the first opportunities for students
to begin giving back to the University. It is extremely
important to help our peers understand the value
of a Purdue education and the responsibility we have
to insure that the same opportunities are available
to future generations of Boilermakers!
Favorite PFSB moment: I had the opportunity to have
dinner with President Jischke, Jerry Rawls, the Rawls
Hall namesake, the current President’s Council
president, and the past President’s Council
president. This is a very distinguished group of
individuals with a wealth of knowledge among them.
It was a pleasure to listen to them discuss various
topics throughout the evening and consider how each
has left an impression on Purdue.
Why do you like being a part
of PFSB? I find it very
enjoyable to interact with Purdue’s alumni
and administrators. There is always something new
to learn from this group, whether it’s about
the University, government, or private industry.
They are willing to share their thoughts and ideas,
which opens my mind as I look to the future.
Name: Abi Kite, Philanthropy Chair

Major: Health science and physical education
Future Goals: I would like to teach physical education
or biology for a while, but once I get married and
start my family, I would like to go back to school
for either physical therapy concentrating on geriatrics,
or to obtain a Ph.D. to teach anatomy and physiology
at the collegiate level.
Interests: I love physical activity. I teach aerobics
at the Recreational Sports Center here on Campus.
I think exercise is one of the most important aspects
to a person’s success! I love to read, cook
(a new hobby), scrapbook, and most importantly, spend
time with my family, boyfriend, and friends!
Fun Fact: I had my mouth wired shut for two months
during my senior year of high school!
Favorite Philanthropic aspect
of PFSB: I can't wait
to be a part of something so worthwhile and beneficial
for those in need. There is nothing more rewarding
than helping out where it is needed most!
Favorite PFSB moment: Actually, I'm rather biased
seeing that PFSB is what brought my boyfriend and
I together, so I would have to say that meeting him
would have to be the highlight of PFSB. Aside from
that, however, would be the opportunity to speak
at the Eiteljorg Museum for The Campaign for Purdue.
Why do you like being a part
of PFSB? PFSB has been
exceptionally rewarding, not only for the networking,
but also for the leadership skills gained while being
an active participant. PFSB has taught me how to
talk with people in a more professional setting,
proper etiquette, and most importantly, how to be
professional. PFSB has been a vital asset to my career
here at Purdue. Of course I'm going to promote the
organization, but on the whole, I cannot overemphasize
the importance of being involved in student organizations
on campus; it could literally make or break you!

doing an internship and studying abroad.
Favorite philanthropic aspect
of PFSB: The blood
drive scheduled for this fall.
Favorite PFSB moment: My favorite PFSB memory would
be last fall during Discover Purdue week when I went
to help out at the press conference to introduce
the gift of $116 million from General Motors Corp.,
Sun Microsystems, and EDS. When I went to the press
conference, I thought that it was just going to be
a little job, like helping people to their seats.
But after a few minutes I was asked if I could help
hold this giant cardboard CD on stage for all the
donators and President Jischke to sign during the
conference. They ended up saying our names and everything
when we went out there, and it was a great experience.
I also thought it was neat when I watched the news
that night and during some of the Purdue basketball
games halftime commercials I was there holding a
big CD on stage. This was definitely an experience
that I would not have been able to take part in without
my involvement in PFSB.
Why do you like being a part
of PFSB? I like being
involved with PFSB because it gives me a chance to
meet and work with alumni and fellow students. I
have met people from all over Indiana and the U.S.
It is interesting finding about their connection
to Purdue. I also enjoy being so involved with the
Campaign for Purdue by helping the University promote
it to fellow students as well as alumni.

Favorite philanthropic aspect
of PFSB: Events that
incorporate both alumni and students such as Purdue
week activities.

because I get to meet and
talk with alumni, and I like hearing their memories
of Purdue when they were in school.
Why do you like being a part
of PFSB? I like the
interactions and networking with Purdue alumni and
faculty, the events we participate in, all the wonderful
friends I have made, and interesting people I have
met.
