Dear Proud Purdue Parent,

What a GREAT time to be a Purdue Boilermaker! The response to last year’s initial kickoff of The Parents Campaign for Purdue has been tremendous. We are reaching beyond the classroom, providing students opportunities to reach their goals by improving the quality of their education. Established to support areas of critical concern to parents, educators, and students alike, the Purdue Parents Fund focuses on the following:

Parents Fund for Housing and Food Services:

The Housing and Food Services Division provides a wide variety of programs and services for all students at Purdue to assist them in being successful in both academic and social settings. Our program offerings provide a warm, welcoming campus climate for all students on and off campus. The Parents Fund has been established to support the following areas:

  • Cultural Awareness
(Examples: Cultural Art Series, Performing Arts Ensembles and programs such as book discussion led by faculty and Holidays Around the World)
  • Leadership Development
(Examples: Student coordination of campus wide events such as Homecoming, Family Day, BoilerFest and conference attendance
  • Creative Social Programs
(Examples: Late Night Programs and social activities with an educational component)

Parents Fund for Libraries:

The Libraries help students achieve their potential by providing information resources and teaching information literacy. Online journals and databases, almost 2.5 million books, group and individual study spaces, wireless Internet access to the online library from anywhere on campus, and subject specialist librarians and staff, all come together to create an active, dynamic learning environment for students. The Parents Fund for Libraries will contribute toward:

  • new furnishings for the 24-hour study lounge and other libraries on campus
  • new coffee shop in the Hicks Undergraduate Library
  • upgrading the Digital Learning Collaboratory (computer instruction lab)
  • DVD and video collections of public broadcasting series, documentaries and classic films.

Parents Fund for Student Services:

Student Services provides a wide range of opportunities for students to expand their education beyond the classroom, helping to provide real world experiences and promote healthy lifestyles that can be utilized long after they leave Purdue.  The Parents Fund for Student Services has been established to support the following three initiatives:

  • Student Leadership programs and activities
(Examples: diversity/multicultural workshops, leadership lecture series, emerging leaders programs, leadership retreats, etc.)
  • Recreational Sports programs and facilities
(Examples: fitness programs and equipment, club sports, outdoor recreation, etc.)
  • Student Health
(Example: alcohol education initiatives and alternative, non-alcoholic social activities)

We all want what is best for our children; a Purdue education provides them a launch pad for success. With your support, the Parents Fund will ensure all Purdue students the opportunities to further develop the skills and characteristics needed to become the leaders of tomorrow!  We hope that you will take this opportunity to support the Parents Fund. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Bob Parrin Kitty Parrin

The Next Step

You want the best for your kids. So do we. Working together, we can make it happen here!

The Parents Campaign is an opportunity to build relationships with other parents and stay connected to campus while your children attend Purdue. We encourage parents to stay up to date on current activities by visiting the Purdue Parents Web site.

You can choose how and where you give. Outright gifts can include property and gifts-in-kind, as well as cash and appreciated securities. Deferred gifts can have significant tax and planning benefits for you and your family. If you choose to establish an endowment, your gift will be invested in perpetuity and the annual income it generates will be used to support the programs or activities you select.

Regardless of the amount of your gift, your commitment will bring us another step closer to realizing our dreams for today's students and tomorrow's leaders.
